Our Running clinic has started, but it’s not too late to join us!
The group is for beginner runners to learn how to run longer distances safely and with minimum effort. You will be led by certified trainer Dominic Turgeon who is a great guy and will look after you well. We are also hooking up with Vancouver Frontrunners (Vancouver’s LGBT running club since 1983) whose members will be happy to coach you and help you through your learning. Our program starts slowly with walk run intervals and builds as the weeks go on. We are excited to be training with you and look forward to your input into the program.
HIM will coordinate a run every Sunday and then you will do 2 other runs in the week as ‘homework’ – we suggest that you guys get a group together to join the Frontrunners group on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings (the good thing is they always end up somewhere where you can get coffee and a bite to eat!) http://vancouverfrontrunners.org/index.html.
Dominic will be supporting you through the program and can help with foot wear, clothing and any pain you might feel as well as correct your running technique.
Our first run is this Sunday at 12 noon. The group is going to meet at the parking lot underneath the Burrard Street Bridge immediately east of the Aquatic Center on Pacific. This way there are washrooms in the Aquatic Center and people can park their car there if they are driving into town.
If you have any questions or suggestions about this running clinic please don’t hesitate to email me or call me on 604 488 1001 ext 224.
