Personal Strategic Advisors

Posted by HIM on Monday March 14th, 2011

Do you feel like you're bogged down or having difficulty with some aspects of your life?

Gay men certainly aren't immune to anxiety about our finances, fitness, or self-esteem.  It's a fact of life that they have a lion's share of barriers to overcome, and for whatever reason we may not feel equipped to deal with these ourselves.  Fortunately HIM has started a brand new program which will advise people on how to reach their goals.

The Personal Strategic Advisor program works to alleviate stress and mental health concerns of gay men.  By helping them develop individual strategies that help them move forward, we hope that gay guys will feel empowered in all areas of their lives.  We have advisors that can help you with your:

  • Fitness, exercise, nutrition, weight-loss
  • Sexual, relationship goals
  • Self-esteem, stress management, coming out
  • Finances, budgeting, careers

This service will provide up to 6 individual one–to-one sessions for gay men that would like to develop a strategy around moving forward with change in an area (or several areas) of their life. The sessions are facilitated by trained peers from HIM who in turn are supervised by a professional supervisor. Homework will be provided to be completed between sessions – strategic planning will be form based and the participant will be able to take the forms/homework/strategies with them.
