It's more than the gym. Whether you're taking your first yoga class, choosing healthier foods or deciding to quit smoking, physical health is an important part of gay men's lives. This section provides resources, articles and information about how you can live a longer, healthier life. We also have listings for our Professional Volunteers who specialize in physical health.

Have you ever felt the need to justify little indulgences in your diet? If not to others than to yourself by saying things like, well it was DIET tonic in my double G&T or perhaps I didn't eat breakfast so I can have an extra cookie.
It's the fun little lies that we tell to placate ourselves that seem to keep the junk food industry in business (and in our stomachs). If I'm bumming you out, I have good news! Chocolate, one of the greatest sources of guilt for the masses' body mass, can be good for you. The cacao in chocolate is an antioxidant and may boost metabolic functions. Some fitness buffs are advocating using chocolate milk as a post-workout beverage to boost recovery. There are other claims too which you can find here, so the next time you feel the need to let some chocolate melt on your tongue, you may not have to feel guilt.
Now before you start gorging yourselves on mini-eggs, there are a few caveats. For instance, not all chocolate is created equal with respect to the amount of sugar, especially when you consume it in the form of a Wunderbar. Instead try a nice dark shaft of chocolate, even if it might leave a slightly bitter taste on your tongue.
