Social Health

It gets better when we make it better. At HIM, we have a pretty simple idea: gay men with high self-esteem tend to live healthier lives and have access to better health choices. We're interested in improving social health factors that impact gay men, including the big-picture stuff like homophobia and heterosexism.  We also have listings for our Professional Volunteers who specialize in social health.

Queer Arts Festival

Queer Arts Festival is a celebration and showcase of all artistic disciplines presented in a professional setting at the Roundhouse Community Centre & Theatre. From visual art, theatre, dance, music, variety and comedy presentations, gay artists are center stage from July 26th to August 13th.

In addition to meeting local and international queer artists and their work, HIM’s very own volunteer fitness and yoga instructors will be modeling for on-site LIVE painting/drawing sessions by gay artists.

Be sure to drop by to check out these in-progress artist sessions, and also join HIM in celebrating queer artists and their work at this free event.

Additionally, on Tuesday, July 26th, Queer Arts Festival Opening at the Roundhouse will showcase performances at 7pm of Berend McKenzie's nggrfg and at 9pm Darcy Michael's The Gayest Show on Earth Part Deux, Even Gayer.  (Tickets for these special performances are $12 in advance, $15-20 at the door. Please check www.queerartsfestival.com for additional information).
