Social Health

It gets better when we make it better. At HIM, we have a pretty simple idea: gay men with high self-esteem tend to live healthier lives and have access to better health choices. We're interested in improving social health factors that impact gay men, including the big-picture stuff like homophobia and heterosexism. We also have listings for our Professional Volunteers who specialize in social health.

The Dogwood Monarchist Society has for forty years now devoted thousands of hours and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to various local charities; and HIM is one of these grateful recipients. In fact, if you have ever used one of the Free Condoms that HIM distributes then you too are surely amongst the grateful recipients.

Thanks to the DMS, HIM has managed to expand its condom distribution program from an experiment in engagement to a prominent feature in the sex lives of the community. The program, proudly facilitated by volunteers, has been used to distribute over 150,000 condoms in under 2 years since its creation. This year with their support HIM has developed new disposable condom dispensers that will be used as convenient tools at future events and parties.

The DMS, an inductee to the QHall of Fame, hosts some of the most anticipated annual events like Entertainer of the Year and Coronation. For this, and their ongoing support, HIM would like to thank the DMS on behalf of the community!
