Doug Leavers

Doug first moved to the West End in 1979, then to five communities in BC’s interior before returning to Vancouver in the summer of Gay Games III (1990). Doug has worked in recreation, sport, and community services for over three decades and acknowledges that many factors influence the wellness of gay men, particularly social relationships and physical health. He is married to an animation artist, and is a father and grandfather – which presents much irony when mixing with a younger crowd at the bar. “All of that which HIM advocates aligns with the way I live as a gay man, and that which I promote in the lives of my friends and peers.”
