Health Initiative for Men (HIM) Website and Email Privacy Statement
Personal information voluntarily provided by you will be used only for the purpose for which it was provided (to enable us to send you a newsletter, information from HIM or its associated entities, to contact you with regard to our activities, or to send you a link to allow you to sign up for access to the restricted portions of our website) or to which you otherwise consent. It will be kept strictly confidential, and is not disclosed to anyone inside the HIM office except the persons who need the information to complete your request.
When you voluntarily disclose information in a public or forum area of our web site, your personal and other information disclosed in your communication shall become public information and can be collected and used by outside parties.
In some instances, we may use outside parties to administer contests, promotions and other online activities on our behalf. This may involve the collection of personal information. In such cases, we ensure that the manner in which any outside party collects uses and retains personal information conforms to our privacy regime. There may also be instances in which we are required or permitted by law to provide personal information without your consent. Such instances include emergency situations, or where required by governmental or other legal order. Other than as indicated above, we will not sell, rent, share or otherwise make available your personal information to any outside parties without your consent.
We do maintain server logs and web logs, which automatically collect and log all incoming traffic to our web site including your Internet Protocol (IP) address. We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our site.
Any personal information you do provide is protected under Canada’s laws respecting the protection of personal information, as applicable. This means that, subject to exceptions permitted by law, at the point of collection you will be informed that your personal information is being collected, the purpose for which it is being collected, and that you have a right of access to the information.
We may occasionally use “cookies” to track how our visitors use the site. If you do not want a cookie placed on your computer by us, you may disable cookies altogether by modifying the Preferences section of your Internet browser software. If you will accept cookies but wish to be informed of their appearance, you may turn on a warning prompt by modifying the cookie warning section of your browser software.
We will not knowingly collect or retain any personal information of visitors to our web site who are under the age of 18, unless we obtain parental or legal guardian consent. Such information will never be sold, rented, shared or otherwise made available to outside parties without parental or legal guardian consent unless we are required to do so by court, governmental, or other legal order. We encourage and support the efforts of parents and legal guardians of children to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to caution them against providing personal information to any web site without their permission.
