SPACES: A Sex Industry Study

HUSTLE at HIM and UBC School of Nursing are conducting a research study SPACES (Sex Power Agency Consent Environment Safety) to better understand how the physical, organizational and managerial contexts of the off-street work environment affect the health and safety of Vancouver sex workers.

We are inviting off-street sex workers who self-identify as male to contact us if you are interested in participating. We are also interviewing buyers, managers, and support staff (security, drivers, and booking personnel) of all genders. Interview may last between 30 and 60 minutes. Confidentiality is guaranteed and a small stipend of $25 will be provided.

We will be asking questions about health and safety tips and strategies in order to work with sex industry professionals to improve existing conditions.  We will share the study results with the community through reports, community forums, and in other ways that sex industry workers choose.

If you have any questions about the study, or if you know someone who might be interested in participating, please call or text us at (604) 365-5612 or email us at spaces.study@ubc.ca.  You can also check it out here.
