HIM is a nonprofit society that aims to strengthen the health and well-being in communities of self-identified GBQ men and gender diverse people in BC.
Health Initiative for Men (HIM) Services in BC Interior Region
HIM honours the Dãkelh Dené, Ktunaxa, Nlaka’pamux, Secwépemc, St’át’imc, Syilx, and Tŝilhqot’in Nations, and the territories of many nations on the west coast of Turtle Island, on whose unceded and stolen land we live and work. As uninvited inhabitants, we acknowledge that this space is and always will be Indigenous land.
Since 2019 HIM has been working with local partners in Kelowna and the Interior region to improve the accessibility and uptake of health services for gay, bi and queer men, and gender diverse people. In partnership with public health, researchers, policymakers, and our communities, we mobilize the evidence, tools, and leadership so our communities in Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton, Vernon, Cranbrook, Nelson and beyond have access to the services and programs we deserve.
