HIM is a nonprofit society that aims to strengthen the health and well-being in communities of self-identified GBQ men and gender diverse people in BC.
Strategically Aligned to Support Our Communities’ Health
We work with our strategic partners on high impact interventions, programs, and services in communities across BC. Our strategic partners value and invest in our work as our organization grows and developed through the years.
Healthcare Partners
Our Healthcare Partners serve an essential role in delivering health services and health intervention work across BC. They provide us skilled healthcare workers, doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and clinicians who can deliver services that are critical for our work reducing the impact of HIV and STIs in our communities. HIM collaborates with Healthcare Partners by providing important contextualized and peer-informed insight into the needs and barriers our communities. In collaboration with our communities we work to convey the challenges accessing healthcare, and we work together to provide a safe stigma-free space to bridge between these communities and healthcare workers.
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Authority
Partners since 2009, the Vancouver Health Authority (VCH) has played a foundational role in the establishment of HIM as an organization and developing and refining clinical services at the HIM Health Centres on Davie and on the Drive. In addition to providing skilled clinicians who provide essential HIV/STI testing and prevention services to communities across Vancouver, VCH is also one of the primary funders of Health Initiative for Men (HIM).
Fraser Health Authority
Partners since 2013, Fraser Health Authority (FHA) has played a foundational role in expanding HIM health services and programs to Fraser Valley region and establishing three local pop-up HIM health centres in Surrey, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack. Along side providing skilled clinicians who provide essential HIV/STI testing and prevention services to communities across Fraser Valley region, FHA also provides funding for health and community programs across the region.
Interior Health Authority
Partners since 2019, Interior Health Authority (IHA) has supported the expansion of HIM’s work to the BC Interior by providing outreach nurses to support PLUS! testing services across the region.
