While sex can be a lot of fun, it can also be a significant source of stress. Whether that’s because we’re having too much or too little for our liking, or for a wide range of other issues, it’s clear that our sex lives can impact our mental health (or the other way around!). Because gay life isn’t always smooth sailing, it’s good to talk to someone about whatever may be troubling you, things you are coping with, or stuff you are trying to sort out.
HIM cares about your mental health, and HIM has some programs designed to help:
HIM offers a zero-cost volunteer run counselling program to gay men with low annual income (as well as guys from marginalized groups), staffed by professional counsellors from our communities. HIM uses a “solution focused model” in their 8-session service. Our counsellors aim to create a safe, welcoming environment where you can safely and confidentially explore difficult personal issues. Counselling sessions are provided for free, or by donation. For more information: email@example.com
HIM HELPS: REDUCED FEE COUNSELLING
Counselling can help in a lot of areas in your life, and for guys who have a medium to high annual income, HIM offers a reduced rate counselling program to make sure that guys can get access to high quality counselling at a price they can afford. To make this happen, HIM has offered the use of the Davie Health Centre to certain trusted counsellors free of charge. In exchange, the counsellors will work with guys for a rate between $50-80 per session. For more information: firstname.lastname@example.org
COACHING WITH HIM
HIM’s Coaching program works to alleviate stress and the mental health concerns of gay men. Coaches at HIM can assist in reaching goals in areas such as fitness, exercise, nutrition, weight loss, sexuality, relationships, self-esteem, stress management, coming out, finances, budgeting, and career development. Services are confidential and facilitated by trained peers from HIM who are supervised by an expert coach, and a HIM staff member. This is a no-cost service although donations are always appreciated.
