LET’S TALK IT OUT
THURSDAY JULY 8TH AT 6:30PM (ONLINE VIA ZOOM)
A dynamic, facilitated discussion with community advocates from across the province that explores layers of queerness and “Outness,” and what it means to celebrate Pride. Through facilitated discussion we hope to explore our own assumptions on what it means to be gay or queer, and how those notions vary depending on where we live.
We live in a world where others make assumptions about who we are. They assume our gender and sexuality, they assume we are meant to dance on floats to celebrate Pride, but we know that it can be more complex than that. In this facilitated discussion with our panelists from communities across BC, we want to explore layers of queerness and “Outness” through the ways that we celebrate Pride. We want to tap into queer history, and talk about the origins of the gay liberation movement in the West, Sylvia Rivera, Marsha P. Johnson, and celebrate trans women and femmes who have paved the way to our queer liberation today. Join us for Let’s Talk it Out, where we discuss Outness, Pride, and the intersections of our identities as GBT2Q folks.
