Inner Light Yoga Nidra

Life can be uncertain, and when things seem uncertain, it’s easy for us to lose sight of who we are and the simple things that brings us joy. The reality is, the only thing that is within our control is ourselves including our behaviours in relations to our thoughts and feelings, and how we choose to interact in the world. And in order for us to regain a sense of control, we need to first regain our sense of self, and that means taking the time to refocus our intentions and re-committing to our self-affirmations.

“Inner Light Yoga Nidra” is a workshop that helps GBTQ2S+ men create and embrace self-affirmations that they want to live by, honour, and become with the aim of promoting mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Yoga nidra can be a powerful tool to help seal in self-affirmations into our unconsciousness to create new thought and behavioural patterns that supports our vision of how we want to see ourselves.

Yoga nidra is often referred to as yogic sleep. Yogis and non-yogis have used it for centuries to reduce stress and anxiety, encourage better sleep, promote total relaxation, and develop coping mechanisms for emotional trauma resulting in a profound sense of joy and wellbeing. Yoga nidra, as already mentioned, can also be used to refocus our intentions and help us re-commit to our self-affirmations of our vision of how we want to see ourselves.

EVENT SCHEDULE

The online workshop occurs every other Wednesday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm PT starting March 3rd 2021 for a trial of 3 months. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early to get settled in.

EVENT DETAILS

In preparation for this workshop, you’ll need the following:

  • A pen and a piece of paper
  • A quiet room with little to no noise and distractions, preferably a room with a door you can close
  • A comfortable chair, couch, bed, or yoga mat
  • The ability to easily transport and maneuver your device that you are logging into online for this workshop so that you can still have access to your device while you are in your chair, or on your couch, yoga mat, or bed
  • And optionally, a thin head or neck support and blanket

It’s important to note that “Inner Light Yoga Nidra” is not a physical form of yoga. There will be no asanas (posture) flows. Yoga nidra is done by sitting in a comfortable chair or laying down on a yoga mat, couch, or bed in a quiet room, preferably with no noise or distractions. You settle in, close your eyes, and I guide you through, essentially, a meditation where you hover between your consciousness, subconsciousness, and your unconsciousness. It is in our unconsciousness that is where our belief system resides, our narrative, our perception of the world, and our stories that were created from our experiences and family patterns. And it’s these patterns and stories in our unconsciousness that we are trying to slowly change by creating new belief systems and perceptions to replace them.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to HIM or email me at [email protected]. I look forward to seeing you at the workshop.
